Self Catering Dumfries

Craigadam - Dumfries Self Catering (sleeps 6)

Craigadam is one of the members of the Tourist Board that I have worked with as a business consultant and I have known Richard and Celia for many years. I have never met a couple that work as hard as them to make their guests stay with them perfect.

Craigadam is a large country house located in the rolling countryside just outside Dumfries. The large house is used as a hotel with bedrooms that are individually decorated to a theme, and this is carried through to the self catering cottage which has three twin bedrooms each of which is decorated to a theme, there is the African room, the Venetian room and the Scottish room.

The cottage forms one side of fountain courtyard and is all on one level, each room has a glazed doorway to the courtyard which makes it feel light and airy.

So why is Craigadam in this guide ? I have chosen it because every aspect of the whole package works well. Celia and her kitchen staff prepares all the food for the award wining restaurant, which is set in a large wood panelled dining room where the guests share the single enormous table.

This Dumfries self catering cottage is delightful, with plenty of space and surrounded by glorious countryside, but what is unique is that you can explore this interesting region and return to your accommodation to eat in a restaurant that is just across the courtyard, make use of the honesty bar and then just amble back across the courtyard to your accommodation.

That's it, self catering accommodation with all the benefits of a hotel.

Celia's husband Richard has built Craigadam up to be one of Scotland's great shooting estates, covering deer, grouse, woodcock and partridge which has lead to the 7th enterprise at Craigadam which is an organic producer of wild game. All the meat is prepared and packed on the estate and is sold all over the country and makes up a lot of the ingredients of Celia's cooking.

There is a buzz about Craigadam

This is a real life experience of Scottish Country Life.

A stay here is such a great and memorable experience. Dumfries Self catering at its best.
