It has recently been completely renovated and is now very comfortable, clean and full of character. It is in a "get away from it all" location on the west of Dumfries and Galloway, which ise good if you enjoy coastal walks, and often seals come into the harbour and sun themselves in the shallow waters.

The Auld Dairy is set on Scotland’s most Southern point, There are the most amazing views over the Solway coast. This part of Dumfries and Galloway has exhilarating cliff top walks looking over nesting Puffins, and gentle strolls along secluded bays. The Old Exchange is located in the heart of the National Trust for Scotland's Estate of Threave Castle and Gardens, the Old Exchange has four self catering accommodations set in the lovely location. Gelston Lodge has 4 self catering cottages that have been recently renovated to the highest standard. The cottages have been built in traditional whinstone and have been beautifully decorated. They are "cosy" and are located in a quiet glen close to Screel Hill which overlooks the Solway Coast. When you arrive over a small bridge over a stream you will be greeted by ducks, hens and horses.

Who doesn't want to have a holiday house on the beach if you have a young family. The Auld Schoolhouse is just a few yards from the beach in Sandhead which is a small village on the edge of Dumfries and Galloway. Not only is this a lovely comfortable family house with a large kitchen with a grand old pine table to eat your breakfast but it is right next door to an excellent cafe. So you can watch your children play on the beach while having a capucchino.
