Luxury self catering Loch Lomond

Craigton Loch Lomond - Luxury self catering Loch Lomond ( sleeps 4 + 6 + 8 )

It is almost miraculous the transformation that takes place when you drive north of Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Central Belt. Flat landscapes where the land has been ravaged by coal mining, bounded on east and west by these two cultural cities expand to some of the most exciting scenery in the World. It's hard to describe if you haven't seen it, many poets have had a good shot but I think the journey you make transcends description.

Craigton is at the beginning of this journey, it is nestled into a remarkably beautiful location on the western side of Loch Lomond, Queen Elizabeth’s Forest Park and the Trossachs and close to Stirling and Glasgow. What this means is that a week here is just enough to scratch the surface of what's on offer.

Loch Lomond has the largest surface area of fresh water Loch in the UK. It has been much written about, both in song and verse. Nearby Craigton is the village Luss, equipped with 200 Scottish whiskies and a great array of seafood. Also in the village, the award winning Colquhoun's restaurant serves the finest local fish, unfortunately there has not yet been a seamonster special, but maybe you'll have more luck taking a fishing boat to Swan island, a beautiful crannog a few hundred metres from Craigton, featured on postcards in Luss Post Office.

The Trossachs has traditionally been taken to include the wider area of wooded glens and hills bounded to the west by Loch Lomond, to the east by Callander and to the south to Aberfoyle and the Loch Ard Forest. Nowadays, The Trossachs are a haven for walkers, cyclists, photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and many other outdoor pursuit seekers and hosts a huge number of events and festivals both indoor and outdoor each year.

Callander is a bustling, sometimes crowded town. Rob Roy is celebrated by the 79 mile Rob Roy Way which passes through Callander on its route from Drymen to Pitlochry.

So Craigton Loch Lomond, Luxury self catering is a great place to visit, and is possibly the best considering the close proximity to either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports. But what about the accommodation? It is bright, airy and decorated with very high quality furniture and lovely hard wood flooring. A wood burning stove adds a focal point and warmth to the whole cottage. You will enjoy a very comfortable cottage in a fantastic location.
