Dallick - Luxury Self Catering Scotland sleeps 16 to 19

This is the perfect example of the raison d'etre for this guide. Truly the best self catering that Scotland can offer.

I first came to Crieff for a holiday many years ago to the world famous Crieff Hydro (as many thousands of people have done) and fell in love with the area. Its one of those rare places that just seems to be the heart of everything. Situated close to many of Scotland's most famous places like Gleneagles, the Trossachs national park, Callander and Huntley, the wonderful Loch Tay, the ancient Highland capital of Perth, and yet you can still have day trips to Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk and Glasgow through some of the best scenery Scotland can offer.

I recently went for a really enjoyable break with some good friends, we hired a whole collection of classic cars from a wonderful company called Motorparty -classic car hire Scotland- and one of the best things was an amazing walk from Crieff to Mutehill finishing at the Barley Bree Restaurant where we enjoyed a superb meal. Where better to retire for the day than one of Scotland's best self catering properties; Dallick offering luxury self catering Scotland sleeps 20.

It has been described as Scotland's best self catering accommodation and I wouldn't like to disagree, it is truely remarkable. The bay window and window seat in the drawing room at Dallick House, allow full advantage to be made of the stunning views on offer over the grounds and the hills of Breadalbane in the distance whilst the dining room, which can seat up to 20 guests is ideal for entertaining friends. With each bedroom retaining its own character and open fires in addition to oil central heating, guests can besure of a most warm and comfortable stay at the accommodation whatever the time of year.

Dallick House is surrounded by 60 acres of fields and wood and is bound to one side by the River Almond. It is part of the much larger West Glenalmond Estate, which also offers great scope for outdoor pursuits, from gentle meanders along the riverbank to more active walks through woodland. With two lochans stocked with trout, just below the holiday house, and fishing on the river is available during the short season. Should you wish to venture further afield, Gleneagles as well as numerous other golf courses are within easy driving distance as are the pretty local towns of Dunkeld and Crieff both of which have shopping facilities.

We have teamed up with expert local companies to put together a range of exciting tailored activities for guests, from white-water rafting, to fly-fishing, to shooting and even Highland Safari!

We will work with you to fine tune a package of activities tailored to your needs, all booked and arranged prior to arrival. For example, 10 guests may want to go fly-fishing for the afternoon and other 10 guests may want to go mountain biking - we can arrange this, and each group will be accompanied by local experts.
