Vernon's review of this accommodation
self catering Highlands

self catering Highlands

Exceptional newly built holiday apartments, designed in a traditional formal square to traditional stone design but with a contemporary twist, sleep 2, 4, 6 and 6, total 18

This is the perfect example of what this guide is all about - truly the best self catering that Scotland can offer. Contemporary and stylish Highlands self catering. Susan and Kenneth are locals who built these tasteful cottages in a courtyard setting in Scottish croft style. Although they look traditional on the outside these apartments offer luxurious, contemporary interiors. They really do offer boutique hotel style whilst also offering homely comfort. Ideal for a lovely, comfortable break.

The accommodation ranges from the MacRuari apartment which sleeps two to Tioram and Somerled that each sleep 6. It's impressive how well equipped the cottages are, from the state of the art kitchens to widescreen TVs, DVD and CD players - ideal for those wet Scottish evenings! All the apartments are stunning and immaculate!

Susan and Kenneth are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival you find they have provided you with some coffee, milk, some goodies from the local bakery to get you started. They can offer advice on walks and things to do in the area. Chopped wood is readily available for you to stoke up the fire and lovely Arran Aromatics in the bathroom set you up for a lovely bath!

This is an ideal location to tour the surrounding Highlands and visit some islands; the area is simply stunning. You need to drive to the nearest restaurants and pubs but they are worth making the effort as the locals are very friendly and the food exquisite.

There are plenty of local walks and activities, and the location is great for exploring Mull, Skye or the Small Isles including Rhum for the day from Mallaig as well as visiting Moidart and Ardnamurchan, even the Fort William area is a good place to visit if you don't mind some time in the car, but it's not just any time in the car, it is the most amazing scenery to be found in Scotland and to drive through it is like driving through your own film set.

The standard of accommodation is every bit as high as the photos suggest - the kitchen is modern and well equipped, all en suite bathrooms are great and there are lots of helpful extras like maps and guidebooks. It's truly amazing to find this level of service and luxury in such a remote location.
