Ullapool Eco Cottage with the most incredible view

There have been many battles fought on Scottish soil, battles for clan, battles for king and country, but this is the story of a couple who have battled for 5 years with the landscape to create their dream. High above Ullapool on the hillside they have carved out a wonder of innovation and design.

The owners have personally managed the build using local craftsmen to create this wonderful hillside retreat. luxuriously equipped with panoramic views across Loch Broom and out to the Summer Isles. They are spacious, yet cosy, with full under floor heating and wood burning stoves in the open plan living areas. The houses include spacious saunas, and luxury freestanding baths.

Ullapool is a wee shining gem of a town sttting on the coast it is a vibrant example of highland culture, there is always a pipe or a fiddle playing and a song to be sung.

I don't normally show the plan of the accommodation, but I feel I have to here, just to show how all the rooms are so orientated around the view, just about all except the utility has a panoramic window overlooking this outstanding view, the large living romm is half window as is the master bedroom, the dining room opens out to the terrace and the kitchen is ingeniously cradled by the stone walls yet has its own vista.

One of the favourite aspects of the accommodation is the sauna, it has a full size window that overlooks the view of Ullapool. It's a sensational experience.

Ullapool - a thriving community renowned for its music, arts and culture. Local, national and even international musicians frequently perform throughout the year at Ullapool’s pubs and venues. Local arts are featured in exhibitions at the local arts centre (An Talla Solais) and Ceilidh Place and local and national crafts can be found in Ullapool’s shops and galleries.

So what is there to see and do close by ?
local watersports available

MUSIC - Seldom a week goes by when there is not live music in the pubs and arts centres in Ullapool. Renowned Scottish musicians and up and coming national (and even international) talent make Ullapool a stop on Scottish tours. In summer season, Christmas and New Year there will be numerous live bands to enjoy every week. The Macphail Centre is a venue for annual visits by Scottish Ballet, Chamber Orchestras and theatre companies.

good area for walking and hiking
Take leisurely strolls along the beach, perhaps picking up a few mussels for lunch as you go, foraging for free food, a great Ullapool pastime, wood sorrell, welks and razor clams or “spoots” as they are known are in full bloom as are the chanterelles the very active can tackle some of the Munros in the area.
good area for fishing

WILDLIFE - Seals and otters are frequently sighted along the coast and more occasionally dolphins and whales. Sea, moor and forest birdlife and numerous deer are to be seen around Ullapool.

good for food

There are many small restaurants and Hotels in Ullapool, the Arch restaurant is very good, but I'm a great fan of fish and chips, where better to have it than in one of the best fish and chip shops Deli-Ca-Sea
